As a dog owner I often search the internet for well designed products for pets. I am especially interested in the solutions proposed by Japanese designers. I recently came across a brand named OPPO, which offers accessories for dogs and cats. One of their products is a dog muzzle named Quack, which is shaped like… a duck’s beak. It’s made of silicone and available in three colors: yellow, brown and pink. The muzzle looks pretty fun at first glance. But a smile on my face has quickly disappeared when I realized that the product does not meet a very important function – it is so tight that dog is not able to open its mouth and cool its body in the hot weather. In my opinion that muzzle can be used only for a short period of time, for example during a vet visit.
Quack has aroused a lot of negative emotions among dog owners because of its imperfection. Maybe in the future the OPPO designers will offer a solution, which is closer to the ideal product.
